Beware of Greeks (Investment Companies) bearing gifts

As interest rates increase, investment companies are increasingly marketing investments which promise attractive levels of income.

Do NOT be fooled by this. They not interest-paying accounts, they are confusing products designed to catch out the unwary. By all means take advantage of the higher interest rates offered on your rainy day funds, but do NOT be diverted from your long-term plan of investing in the equity markets to achieve your long-term goals.

The biggest risk that you can face in retirement is NOT volatility, it is running out of money before you run out of life.

It is better to be a retired gentleman than an old-aged pensioner.
